There is just something about Spring that makes my photographer heart so happy.
The light is softer. The air feels lighter. Everyone seems to come out of winter hibernation ready to breathe again. And then… the cherry blossoms bloom 🌸
Photographing families under the cherry blossom trees in Harrogate is hands down my favourite setting of the whole year.
It’s like nature decided to show off for a few short weeks.
The blossoms create this dreamy, delicate backdrop — soft pinks and whites floating above you, petals
drifting down, the gentlest glow in the evening light. It’s romantic and magical… but also completely
perfect for chaos (my speciality).
Because here’s the thing.
Cherry blossom sessions are not about standing still under a tree and smiling politely.
They’re about:
- Little legs running down blossom-lined paths
- Parents scooping toddlers up mid-giggle
- Twirls, cuddles, tickle attacks
- Petals being thrown (and sometimes eaten… let’s be honest)
Spring gives children space to move. And when they move, they become themselves. That’s when personalities shine through. That’s when the real connection happens — when you’re not thinking about the camera, you’re just playing together.
I love how relaxed everyone feels outdoors. There’s no pressure. No stiff poses. Just gentle guidance from me while you explore, laugh and maybe pretend to be dinosaurs for five minutes.
And the blossoms don’t last long — which makes it feel even more special. It’s this tiny window of beauty each year, and I adore capturing families right in the middle of it.
