That magical age where your child can go from belly-laughing to lying on the floor like a deflated balloon in the space of about four seconds.

Parents often message me nervously before a shoot saying, “I’m not sure how this will go… my toddler’s in the terrible twos.”

Here’s the thing — I actually love photographing kids at this age.

They’re Full of Personality (and Opinions!)

Two-year-olds know exactly what they want… even if it’s a snack you don’t have or to wear wellies in July. And that’s the beauty of it. Their expressions, their quirks, their little bursts of independence — they make for some of the most honest and joyful photos.

No Posing Required

Forget “sit still and smile.” At this age, the magic happens when we let them be two.

Running in circles? Perfect.

Collecting sticks? Adorable.

Deciding halfway through that they need to show me their best dinosaur impression? Absolutely.

I’ll follow their lead, camera in hand, capturing those natural moments that actually feel like your child — not a posed version of them.

It’s Meant to Be Fun (For Everyone)

I never expect toddlers to cooperate on command — I come armed with games, silly noises, and a whole toolkit of distraction techniques (some of which even work on grown-ups). We’ll play, explore, and sneak in those sweet, snuggly moments in between the giggles and wriggles.

Your Family, Right Now

One day, you’ll look back on these photos and remember exactly what this stage was like — the cheeky faces, the tiny hand holding yours, the boundless energy.

It might feel a bit wild in the moment, but that’s your family’s real life right now. And it’s worth capturing.

So if your toddler’s in the “terrible twos” and you’re wondering whether a photoshoot is a good idea… trust me, it is.
